Tell me about your SUBTITLING SERVICE...
We offer simple transcription and subtitling of your online or offline videos, quickly and at a low, low cost.
We can accept several video formats and can provide both open and closed subtitles in embedded and/or .srt file formats (see ‘What are open and closed captions?’ below).
We keep things simple so that you can have your video, subtitled your way, at your budget – and with no fuss or hassle.
Also, we’re very nice.
What are open and closed captions?
Open captions are always in view and cannot be turned off, whereas closed captions can be turned on and off by the viewer.
We can provide a timed transcript in a format called SRT (SubRip Subtitle File) which is a type of text document (you can open it in Notepad or Word, for example). Many online video-sharing websites including YouTube and Vimeo allow you to upload .srt files to your online videos. This gives your viewers the option to turn the subtitles on or leave them off – which is called ‘Closed Captioning’. We can also provide subtitles in .VTT format if preferred.
Alternatively (or as well as this) we can embed the subtitles into your offline video. When you upload an embedded subtitled video to your website or to YouTube, for example, the subtitles will be permanently in view. This is called ‘Open Captioning’.
What are your rates?
We have a single, simple price to keep things easy.
We charge just £5 per minute of video, with a minimum order of £15 (3 minutes of video). We offer a £1 per video minute discount if you are providing your own (accurate) transcript.
You will receive the following:
A Word (.doc) document containing a full transcript of the dialogue;
Accurately timed .srt file ready to upload to your video host;
Help on uploading your subtitles to your online video if required.
If required, we will also return a copy of your video (in the same format & definition as we received it) with the subtitles fully embedded, at no extra cost.
Why are your rates so low?
We noticed a gap in the market for students, amateur film makers and other people who just have a quick YouTube video, or a set of marketing videos, or a video they want to add to their website. If you don’t want (or need) a large company with endless options and a high price tag, and you just want a simple video simply but accurately transcribed and subtitled, the Speedy Subtitles service is for you.
Are you any good?
Yes, we’re awesome.
We’re accurate, fast and reliable.
We have had over 350 happy clients in the past five years (and no unhappy ones).
We have several years’ experience of transcribing and subtitling for the TV and Media industry including BBC Horizons and Channel Four documentary interviews. We use the latest transcription and captioning technology as well as professional equipment such as ergonomic keyboards and foot pedals. Along with experience and high typing speeds this allows us to work fast and charge the lowest rates on the market.
I want my video subtitled. What do I do?
Easy peasy. Email us your details to firstname.lastname@example.org – we’ll get back to you really quickly with a quote and a delivery frame.
If your video is online, simply include the URL link in your email.
If your video is under 2GB send it to us using a transfer site – we recommend www.WeTransfer.com – using the email address email@example.com OR if you have the file uploaded on Dropbox or Google Drive, send us the ‘share’ link.
If your video is larger than 2GB, please try to reduce the file size before sending.
Why do I need subtitles/captions?
As well as allowing people with hearing difficulties to access the content of your videos, closed captioning will:
- Enable Google to search your video
- Make content more accessible
- Increase user engagement
- Boost your SEO
